Fun With Bass Fishing

Updated on November 20, 2011

When it comes to bass fishing anywhere it is not just a sport but rather a mixture of fun, recreation, adventure and of course sport. You are going after a great fish to catch. At one point it may have been about food but for the most part now the bass fish has become the most popular for fun and frenzy. Go ahead and turn on your television and in almost all cases you can find a bass fishing show on. Also have a look around the internet and you will find no less then 1000s of sites dedicated to bass fishing. In this day and age bass are no longer about eating what you catch. Now it is about releasing the fish and keep going after the trophy.

The great thing about getting into the sport of bass fishing is you dont need to have the same abilities as say a pro hockey player. You just need to want to catch and do what it takes to catch. Of course just like anything else, the more you practice the better you will be. Eventually with the right amount of practice you will be considered a pro. When it comes to bass fishing you need to know there are more then one type of bass. You have options like small mouth, large mouth, spotted and many others.

Most experts will suggest as a new fisher person to bass you should start out by fishing in ponds first. To start you need to try and stay away from big bodies of water. As you build confidence you can move into larger water bodies. Bass dont come to you but rather have you come to where they are. You should look in places like behind rocks, plants or any other structures in the water. It doesnt matter on the size of structures. In almost all cases you will find just as many fish around small structures as well as large structures.

Bass can see what they are looking for for a great distance. Also they have great vision at night. Another thing that is quite unique to bass is having taste buds in and outside their mouths. This helps them determine what may be good and what may not be so good. Because of these things bass can be a little more of a challenge to catch which is what makes this sport so exciting.

Of course when it comes to bass fishing we all need to have the right equipment. To make the list simple we will need a rod, reels, hooks and baits. Of course that is a general list and when it comes to all these there are many options when choosing reels, rods and so forth. The experts suggest newbies get started with crank baits and work their way to fishing with jigs. When it comes to bass fishing with plastic worms it is then that a lot of skill will be required. While crank baits are the suggestion many people like to actually get started with spinner baits as an all round bait. Even the pros like to use spinner baits in many cases.

Through out North America you will have access to many bass fishing tournaments. These tournaments have grown so big that people from all over the world now attend many of them. The thing with tournaments is not only are you having fun but in many cases you are fishing for very large amounts of money in prizes.

Just one thing to always remember is that a bad day of fishing is always better then a good day at work.
