Creative Writing Exercises-Dont Tear Your Hair Out

Anyone can jot words down on paper and write an article.  The thing is with creative writing exercises you will be writing articles that have people wanting to read them.  You want people to enjoy your writing but you also want them coming back for more.  You will have to give them a reason to stay interested.

Being creative in your writing in many cases can be the most important aspect.  For some people creativity comes naturally, but for others its not so easy.  Writers can get very frustrated when writers block kicks in and the juices don't flow.

In your mind every word should have a picture associated with it.  This will give you a clear view of what you are trying to express.  Its how you build each article step by step that will begin to build the big picture.

So now you are wondering what the heck to do when those juices just wont flow.  To be honest there is no guaranteed way to make it happen.  Of course everyone is different and everyone reacts differently.  There are a few ways I would like to suggest that have helped for me in the past when it seemed that nothing would ever show up.

Creative Writing Exercises-Write

You can never let your guard down as a writer. At any second an idea might fall right in your lap.

At all times you need to carry a journal with you. Writing things down could very easily be the makings of your next articles.

When you write it can be things you see, feel, talk about or hear. It really isnt stealing when you develop your own idea from someone Else's.

Its important to understand that your ideas can come from anywhere at anytime and that's why you need to always have that journal on you.

Creative writing exercises like this one can be used night or day.

What you see today could be your next million dollar idea.

Creative Writing Exercises-Dont Rush Yourself

If your brain is full of a thousand things you really wont get anything accomplished.  Where are the new ideas going to go when your brain is cramped full.

You need to focus on clearing your mind.  The road blocks that are in the way need to be cleared so they don't halt the creative thoughts.

There is no way to focus if you continue to let things bother you.

Relaxation is the key.  This is especially important when dealing with other people.

Your writing from experiences is what you make of it.  The more you can focus the better off you will be.

You need to understand yourself before anything else.  This way you will understand what it takes to keep your creative juices flowing.  Once you have that under control the rest will come much easier.

You cant go wrong by practicing and mastering creative writing exercises.

Creative Writing Exercises-A Place To Work

Its important to work someplace that makes you feel good about yourself.  Its not just wanting to feel happy and relaxed but its a must to feel that way.

It really is a no brain er that you will have more great thoughts flowing if you are in the right frame of mind.

Its hard to be in that frame of mind if you are trying to work around clutter and messes.  Believe it or not a mess can be just as distracting as anything else that might prove to be a road block.

Your working place needs to be a happy place.  All around you there has to be signs of inspiration and happiness.

These can be pictures, posters, objects and so forth.  They don't have to have meaning to anyone else but you.

I know when I take the time to clean my office I feel 150% better.  I know that at that point I can also write much better.

It is amazing how the little creative writing exercises can make such a difference.

Creative Writing Exercises-Setting The Mood

Its all about what makes it easier for you to write. Every writer is different and they eventually figure out what works.

Its up to you to figure out what kind of mood settings will get your creative juices flowing.

All you need to do is let things happen. If you go with the flow you will see that you will get things figured out and you will move forward.

You need to use your imagination when setting the mood because everyone will do it differently.

I like to have silence in my office. I turn out the lights, light about 6 candles and have a few rye and cokes on ice. I don't drink to get drunk, its just what works for me.

Others like loud or soft music, some people like to drink tea or wine. hell some people like to do their writing at 2 in the morning. You need to figure out what mood works for you.

This is just another step in creative writing exercises.

Creative Writing Exercises-Have Fun

Possibly the best creative writing exercises you can have is to have fun.

You need to just let everything go and have the adventure of a life time.

This will be huge in recharging your batteries when it is time to get back to work.

I don't care what it is you do.  You can go clubbing, sky diving, mountain climbing, fishing or anything you want.

You need to let your imagination hit over drive.

The biggest thing is make sure whatever you do it is off the beaten track.  What i mean by this is make sure its not routine.  You don't want to be doing the same dull things that we all do on a daily basis.

For now these are my creative writing exercises suggestions.  I'm sure you can think of a lot more and add them through comments.

Dale - It is difficult to provide decent advice to writers as to how they might rev up their creativity, but you did a fine job of that with this article.

I love your thoughts about keeping a journal. I am beginning to fill them up like crazy. Some of the thoughts go into my blog.

Well, if you're driving down the freeway and an idea hits, you can't write, but I believe you could push a button on your digital camera or IPhone and voice-record your thoughts! At least you wouldn't lose what you have.

Interesting thing about your problem with clutter. I never let it bother me, and boy, do I have a lot in my office at the moment. I have to work with my yappy little dogs creating disturbances and what-not. It can be like supervising a toddler. But when I'm in the mood to write, nothing stops me.

I find the time of day is very important too.

Good stuff Dale. I like the carry a notebook around, it's a great idea I know I have forgotten things I want to write about because I am doing other things. Writing it down will help tremendously.
