Tips For Working From Home

So now you are working from home. You have great visions of days filled with leisure, talking to clients in pajamas, you will have less people bugging you and you should produce much better. The problem is the real thought of working from home can very quickly become blurry. You will find yourself finding other things to do. You may think loading the dishwasher is important and should be done before building an article for your website. It seems you have extra time so you will go and clean the bathroom. You know you can always do some research after the laundry is put in.

If you think this is all going to work then your work from home dream will soon turn into a going back to work night mare. You have to keep distractions out of your working life, you need to have structure to work by. In fact sometimes you have to be two different people. One is the worker and the other is the home maker. Dont let this scare you away though. If you learn how to do things properly you can still get great rewards from working from home. Below you will find 10 small ways to keep your mind on business when it should be there.

Keep Your Space

You need to have a place you call home so you also need a place to call work. Not everyone can have a home office in a seperate room in their home.

Some places people live barely have enough square footage to live never mind work.

Of course the idea spot in the real world would be a room in the house that is or can be designated as an office.

The thing to remember is that if you cant find an extra room you should at least try and dedicate some space that will be the place you will work

This place needs to be set up in a way that will make you feel like working the second you sit down.

Use Your Time

Of course by working at home you will find that your personal time will start falling into your work time. As a stay at home worker it is very important to build some structure that works each day.

Of you normally go swimming and then go out to the gym then you should try and do this at the same time every day.

Time with yourself is very important but keeping your business running is also important. The nice thing is you can choose the time slots you want to work.

In the world of working online I even know people who do things during the day and put in 8 to 10 hours every night working on their business.

Its okay to do this, the only thing I would suggest is to try and keep things as consistant as possible.

Its Okay To Get Help

Most people when they first get started are going to think they are super people and they can do everything on their own.

You may think you are doing a great thing by being everything your business needs, However what you must know is by doing this you will be wasting a lot of time that could be used in much better ways.

You have to bring yourself to stop thinking you can do everything and be willing to automate as much as possible in your work from home business.

There are things like virtual assistants that you could be looking at to make your business that much better.

Take Advantage Of Technology

You may or may not have a lot or little amount of face to face meetings. As a home business owner you want to schedule them properly and dont miss anything.

You do want to try and do your business with the phone, fax and email when ever possible. By saying this you will want to use the best equipment you can afford.

In many cases if you are not in the office you are not making money and that isnt a good thing.

The key is to be able to communicate whether you are in or out of the office. Just make sure your work lines at home do not interfere with your home lines. With technology today in most cases you shouldnt need seperate lines but if you find you are having too many interuptions as a result of not having a seperate line then get one.

money. So it's important that you can communicate flawlessly from where you are. And PLEASE do us all a favor and get separate lines/services for your phone, fax, and Internet! No one likes getting a busy signal.

Do Things In Groups

If there are work related things that you do need to do outside the home then you should try and do them in one leave.

When you start your day make a list of what needs to be done and where you need to go to do it. Then look at how you will do everything with one quick trip.

If at all possible try and not do it every day and try and go out to run business errands only once a week. You cant even imagine the time you will save by doing this once a week instead of once a day.

Also remember to go out you need time to get ready to go out. This all may seem silly but the silly cliche that time is money really is true when trying to succeed working from home.

Keep Your Mind On Whats Important

When you are trying to work from home when you are working you need to make that whats important. You have to keep your work space seperate from your home space.

You also want to keep other people, children or pets out of your work space. Your office really shouldnt be the same space your kid plays computer games.

You also need to seperate home from work, like keeping the household papers in a different place out of site while you are working. You need to do this to keep distractions to a minimum.

Ignore People Who Bother You

When your friends and family find out you are working from home they are going to think this is so great and want to talk to you about it.

Of course they have no clue what its about. They will think all you do is lie around, watch television and wait for the pay checks to roll in.

They will be calling to chat and think you have nothing but time. It is at this time you have to nip it in the butt and make them realize you really are working.

It is important you tell them you will call them at the end of your work day. Do make sure you call them and maybe explain to them that your time is really important in order to make your work from home time productive. You will slowly start to notice that they will see that you are serious and they will respect your wishes.

Let Your Moods Dictate

Remember you are working from home so you can dictate what works best for you. Yo get to choose what time of day you write an article and what time you dont.

maybe you find you write better at night and research better during the morning. You need to do what works best for you in most situations.

Sometimes, however you may need to make things work. I mean if you are married and if you have children you do need to make sure you also make time for your family.

Make sure you are realistic with your time. Putting a midnight slot away for your kids just isnt going to work. We all know by then they will be long gone to bed.

You will find yourself struggling to make things work but eventually you will figure what works best for all.

Take Care Of You

You want to do the best you possibly can so you need the best possible work environment to do that in.

What re some things that make people put in their best work? Lots of short breaks, no interruptions, a quiet work space and maybe even some light music that will help you concentrate.

If you have the room you may even want to set up a nice couch in your office. The real important thing is getting yourself a very good office chair. Some people may think you are crazy but when you spend hour after hour in a chair you dont need to care what other people think.

You should also have a place you can go when you just need a break from the things around you. Someplace like a park or the library seems to work.

You may also have a place outside the office you can go to when you need to do some important reading. Again you may choose a park bench or maybe your local coffee shop.

Dont Become Anti Social

You do need to remember there is a world outside your work and if you dont use it you will get yourself into trouble.

If you stay cooped up to long in your office you not only will stop being productive but you will become grumpy and moody as well.

Its okay to go out with friend or family and get involved in activities that are not work related. In fact its not only okay but something you have to do to keep sane.

Becoming a hermit could spell the end of your business if you are not careful.
